Part two of our birding adventure in Belize takes place in and around San Ignacio. San Ignacio is inland Belize near the Guatemala border, here you can find rivers, jungles, caves and Mayan ruins to explore.

Just in time for Superb Owl Sunday, an article on owls! If you are as old as I am you will remember in the 90’s the hullaballoo about Spotted Owls here in the Pacific Northwest. At the time the culprit was logging, Spotted Owls have evolved to inhabit old-growth forests, tall trees, old snags, healthy streams, and with the many food sources that also live in the same habitat.
3 CommentsAs much as we love our great Pacific Northwest and all the amazing local birds, when it get’s cold, dark, and dreary it is a good time to travel to the sunshine. Last winter we found our sunshine in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This year we chose Belize!
1 CommentA trip to the Skagit Flats in winter is a must though the Skagit Valley is beautiful year round. But winter is a great time to see the Short-eared Owls, Bald Eagles, and Northern Harriers.
Leave a CommentWith winter arriving it always get’s hard to handle the dark wet days in the Pacific Northwest. We were lucky to see a rare long sunny weekend forecast for the coast, so we headed south to Nehalem Bay State Park in Oregon.
Leave a CommentPort Townsend is a wonderful little town for a day trip from Seattle or a weekend visit any time of year. It is located right at the tip of a peninsula and has an amazing waterfront facing the entrance to the Puget Sound.

Leave a CommentPart two of our summer adventure took us back north from Grand Teton into Yellowstone National Park. Summertime is the busiest time in these two parks because much of the year there is snow. This is where it is nice to have our little Scamp Birdie, we were able to stay at the Fishing Bridge RV Park which is right in the middle of the park making it easier to get to all the different sites.
Leave a CommentFor our big summer trip with the Scamp we headed to the Continental Divide to see Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone and hike to Taggart Lake. What an incredible trip, these are two magnificent national parks that we highly recommend visiting!
